The Sangam organises a Kattaikkuttu Theatre Festival every year. These Festivals have been pivotal in introducing different styles and different Kattaikkuttu companies to the audience consisting of rural spectators, urban theatre enthusiasts, research scholars and tourists.

In 2000 and 2005 the Sangam organized to mega-theatre Festivals, to enable local audiences to take part in and enjoy India's wider cultural spectrum. Most cultural festivals take place in the city. These 2000 and 2005 Theatre Festivals of the Sangam were meant to enable rural audiences to take part in and enjoy the vast spectrum of Indian performing art forms. Both festivals consciously transcended the boundaries that divide high and low culture, town and village, local and global, insider and outsider. They offered all participating groups, whether bringing classical, folk or contemporary fare, the same space and time to perform.

Performances presented included Kathakali, Kutiyattam, Ottan Tullal, traditional and contemporary puppetry, Isai Natakam, Bharata Natyam, contemporary dance and theatre from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh and Orissa.
