Youth Theatre School
The school has an excellent track record in artistic training and education. The graduates of the school are in high demand among other theatre companies and as artistic trainers at regular schools. The school has a 100% success rate in all Public Exams (8th, 10th and 12th standard).
In April 2010 a first group of sixteen students, 4 girls and 12 boys, graduated from the school: they have completed their artistic training and passed their 10th or 12th standard school exams. Three graduates have specialized in playing one of Kattaikkuttu's musical instruments; the other thirteen have specialized in acting.
Access to good quality education has enabled students, who decided not to go for a career in the performing arts, to be in the mainstream at regular schools and to get admission in poly-technical colleges and universities. Some students are more able with their hands than with their heads: the school's vocational training has made it possible for one student to set up his own business of making the theatre's wooden kattai ornaments.
What do they do now?
