Music
is very important in Kattaikkuttu. Without music, there is no Kattaikkuttu.
The musicians
sit on a bench at the back of the stage. Behind the musicians there is
always a group of background singers - they are actors who at that moment
do not have to perform a role on stage. Two of them beat the rhythm with
small hand cymbals called 'talam'.
