We maintain, and are in the process of further developing, our organic garden. In addition to providing us with fresh, organic vegetables and fruits, the organic garden is an important pedagogical instrument. The garden offers direct contact with nature and with the way we produce our food. By working in the garden and learning organic ways of cultivation we create environmental awareness as well as emphasize the importance of hand-on physical labor to produce food. Students participate in preparing their own food. They familiarize themselves with the nutritional value of food, its hygienic preparation and whether it can be eaten raw or cooked.
We welcome others who would like to work in our garden or, on request, learn how to prepare traditional, South Indian vegetarian food.
