Volunteers of all ages come to the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam from around the world. Our alumni volunteers have become an enthusiastic support base world-wide for the Gurukulam and the Sangam. For many a stay at the school has changed their lives and sometimes their career decisions.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam is now calling for volunteers for the school year 2019-2020. Ideally, volunteers should be willing to commit themselves for a period of 6 months.

Organic Garden Project

Date of Commencement of the position: 1 July 2019

Duration: Minimum of 6 months (preferably longer) in which case we will be able to offer the volunteer free boarding and lodging

The Kattaikkuttu Sangam is looking for someone experienced with sustainable farming or permaculture practices and passionate about sharing that knowledge with others to lead our Organic Garden Project. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working outdoors with students in the garden, able to cooperate with local staff on project planning and implementation, and sensitive to local customs and values of the school. Flexibility and interest in participating in the daily life of the school is essential for this role, as is a passion for holistic living and an ability to communicate information in a clear, concise manner to a variety of audiences.

Tailor/costume designer

Date of Commencement of the position: 1 July 2019

Duration: Minimum of 6 months (preferably longer) in which case we will be able to offer the volunteer free boarding and lodging

We are seeking an experienced tailor or (theater) costume/fashion designer to teach basic tailoring skills to students of the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam interested in tailoring and costume design. The ideal candidate is someone who, in addition to excellent tailoring skills, has an interest in the performing arts in combination with the skills to design, cut and stitch costumes for our new theater productions. The presence of girls in these productions require the innovative adjustment of traditional male costumes to the female body.

o   Teacher of English as Second Language and/or Teacher of English through Drama

o   After school & weekend caregiver

o   Voice coach/singer

o   Physical trainer/dancer/physical theater person/choreographer

o   Light designer/theater technician

o   PR & branding specialist

o   Fund raiser
