News

New School year

The Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam reopened on the 17th of June 2019. As the result of a lack of funding, we operate in a reduced format.

The good news is that the Kattaikkuttu Young Professionals Company will be performing thanks to the welcome initiative of two of our alumni students-cum-apprentices (for performance dates, please see the Calender).

This year we plan to further develop our organic Food Forest Garden and are welcoming hands-on volunteers who would like to help us. For questions regarding volunteering, visits, workshops or performances, please contact our office.

Vilaiyattin Vilaivu

On 12 April 2019 the junior-most students of the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam concluded the school year with a great performance of P. Rajagopal’s play for children “Vilaiyattin Vilaivu” (War Games) .

Exam Results

All Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam candidates have passed their 10th, 11th and 12th Public Exams. Herewith the school maintains its 100% Pass record. And even more exciting: two of our students have got admission to Ashoka, a leading liberal arts and science university in Haryana near Delhi. A. Bharathi wants to study English and P. Sasikumar Economics. Both intend to continue their acting and music careers by opting for a Performing Arts minor.

Karna’s Eyes

Fundraising for the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam

Follow Karna on his world-wide travels in support of a future generation of young Kattaikkuttu performers

We are excited to see how our alumni volunteers are being inspired by Karna’s Eyes, devising different ways and creative means to raise funds for the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam. Half-way into the campaign they have now raised more than half of the target amount of Euro 25.000. Thank you so much for your efforts and your continued passion for the school and its students!

Karna is in the United States of America, where Katie Miss (Katie Norman) hosted him in a Shakespeare festival in Milwaukee. Karna has now arrived at the doorstep of Kate Donohue in California where he is looking forward to a grand reception on the 14th of July.

In anticipation of Karnatic Kattaikkuttu: Sold out show at Kalakshetra and an incredible experience for all of us, yet for the time being this was the last performance. Let’ see what will happen in the future!
